Road Conditions
The entire road from the airport to the Race Village is tarred and in good condition. The first 124km is on the N3, a national highway which is in great condition.

The next 130km is on a smaller national road. This is a beautiful drive through the Natal midlands as you approach the Drakensberg. This road tends to have some potholes and road works. So it’s not advised to drive this road at night unless you are very familiar with the route.

  • For the GCU65 runners and supporters: The road between Glencairn Farm and Silverstreams is about 40% tarred and 60% gravel road. Set aside 60 - 90 minutes for this drive. The gravel road conditions are rough but accessible with any small rental car.

  • For the SDR36 runners and supporters: The road between Glencairn Farm and the Start at Castleburn Farm is 100% tarred and the trip will take approximately 50 - 60mins
