One of the main reasons we changed the course for 2020 is to reduce the logistical complexity for runners and supporters, and with this, increase the support, energy and atmosphere at the finish line.

From 2020, Premier Resort Sani Pass Hotel is the Race Base, designed for you to not have to drive around, and do very little apart from running and supporting.

  • You roll out of bed in the morning, breakfast awaits - we get you to the start of your races, you just run to your room/tent where a warm shower and fresh clothes and dinner awaits.

  • Roll back down to the finish area to support, back to your room for a nap…and back down to the finish again when a special friend you ‘need’ to support is crossing the line.

  • Come Sunday morning, we are going all out to cheer the last 160km runners in.

  • Don’t forget, Monday is a public holiday, so stick around and make a proper Berg weekend of UTD.  Jack Black is on board for the finish line, prize giving and lazy Sunday after party.

Everything within at most two hundred metres of your bed!

We have room and tent packages for you to choose from:

  • Room AND Tent packages include breakfast and dinner daily

  • UTD160 runners, Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast are excluded, but the room or tent cannot be vacated on Friday night even if you don't have a non-running supporter sharing the room

  • 3 Adults can share a room, but the 3rd is on a sleeper couch

  • 2 children can sleep on a sleeper couch and there is a very limited number of family rooms which have a king, 2 bunk beds and a sleeper couch

  • If you are a single runner looking to share a room, you need to source your own room-mate via the UTD Forum or similar

  • The tents are large 4-person tents with a zipped-off veranda in the front. So, if you book a tent for yourself… you will have a large, 4-person-sized tent for the weekend. The tent comes with a mattress and a sheet.

  • If you want to share a tent, 2 mattresses with sheets will be placed in the (4-person sized) tent.

    Airport transfers

  • Airport transfers from King Shaka International Airport are available Thursday and Friday up - and Sunday and Monday back
